01○ COMINGKrishna, Radha, and the Colours of Braj
Bhagavata Purana, Book 10.33; Gita Govinda of Jayadeva▾
Krishna, Radha, and the Colours of Braj
Young Krishna — dark-skinned — complains to Yashoda that Radha is fair. She playfully suggests he colour Radha's face. This begins the Holi tradition in Braj. Krishna, his cowherd friends, and the gopis smear each other with colours. The theological depth: Holi dissolves distinctions of caste, age, gender, skin — everyone becomes one colour of celebration. Tell the Braj story along with the philosophy of Holi as a great equaliser.

Pitru Tarpan after Holika Dahan
