Navadurga, Night 2: Brahmacharini, the Goddess of Devotion
Young Parvati resolves to win Shiva not with beauty but with devotion. She leaves the palace for the forest and performs tapasya through every season — eating fruits, then only leaves, then nothing at all, earning the name Aparna. Shiva, disguised as a young ascetic, tests her by mocking Shiva; she refuses to listen to insults about the one she loves. Shiva reveals himself, moved by her determination. Lesson: patience, discipline and devotion can achieve what seems impossible.
